Terms of use

SerialProof is an independent registry that records and verifies watch serial numbers, certificates and guarantees. The registry is operated by Abarel Sp. z o.o.

A verification confirms an entry in the registry – it is not an appraisal, a valuation or a guarantee of a watch's condition or market value. The terms of any guarantee are set by the issuing maison, not by SerialProof.

Scope

These terms govern the public use of serialproof.ch and of the SerialProof registry – viewing certificate pages and verifying serial numbers. The participation of watch brands in the registry is governed by separate written agreements, not by this page.

What a verification means

A verification result confirms the state of an entry in the registry at the moment of consultation: that a certificate exists, to which watch it is bound, and the standing of its guarantee. It is a statement about the registry, not an expert examination of the physical watch. A genuine entry does not exclude tampering with the physical object; the absence of an entry does not by itself prove a counterfeit.

Warranty

Any warranty is granted by the issuing brand, under that brand's own conditions. The registry records the warranty and computes its term; it does not grant, extend or alter it. Claims under a warranty are directed to the issuing brand or its authorised service.

Entries and corrections

Entries are created by issuing brands. Only the brand that issued an entry may correct it; the registry preserves the history of every correction. Certificate identifiers are never reused.

Acceptable use

The registry serves individual verification. Automated queries, scraping, bulk harvesting of certificate pages and any circumvention of security or rate-limiting measures are prohibited. The SerialProof name and mark may not be used to suggest that a watch, a listing or a business is endorsed by the registry.

Liability

The registry is operated with care but, to the extent permitted by law, Abarel Sp. z o.o. accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of a verification result, nor for the acts or omissions of issuing brands. Statutory rights, including consumer rights, remain unaffected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Poland. Disputes fall to the competent Polish courts. Mandatory provisions of the law of your habitual residence remain unaffected.

Changes

These terms may be revised as the registry evolves. Last updated: 1 August 2026.
